Saturday Night Genealogy Fun — Your Top End-of-Line Ancestors

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along – cue the Mission Impossible music!):

1)  Show us your pedigree (or fan) chart.  Who are your end-of-line ancestors?  Describe the top 5 or 10 of them.

Top End of Line Ancestors

– James Crawford (1772-1854) of Preble County, Ohio and his wife Sally Smith Duggins Crawford whom James married in 1799 in Garrard County, Kentucky. I manage three full yDNA tests for this line. So far, it is still a brick wall.

My Paternal Grandfather Leon Crawford’s line

  • Foster – Ohio and Maryland
  • Ostrander – New York / New Ansterdam
  • Hammond / Hale / Fiske- Connecticut
  • Ralston / Barr – Pennsylvania – David Ralston arrived from Ireland in 1803
  • McCormick / Hall – Pennsylvania

My Paternal Grandmother Winnie Currey’s line

  • Currey line – Thomas Currey of Adams County Ohio
  • My New Amsterdam branch: Harris, Demarest, Van Arsdale, Banta
  • Burke / Graves – Virginia / Tennessee (FS tree goes back to New Brunswick, but I have not researched such a connection)
  • Bland line – Kentucky and Virginia
  • Hutchinson – New York
  • Harding / Fowler Flewelling — LOYALISTS — New Brunswick and New York

My Maternal Grandfather Edward Osmond Briles’ line

  • Briles / Broyles – Conrad Broyles of Randolph County, North Carolina was a member of the 2nd Germanna colony along with his father Johanne (John) Van Bruhl (Broyles)
  • Beckerdite / Rush – Randolph County, North Carolina
  • Thompson – Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa
  • Igleheart – Maryland to Kentucky
  • Ricketts – Maryland to Kentucky
  • Buckles – Maryland to Indiana
  • Reed – Pennsylvania to Maryland to Indiana
  • Christy – VIrginia to OHio
  • Gallimore – North Carolina to Ohio to Indiana

My Maternal Grandmother Pauline Mentzer’s branch

  • Middlesex County, Massachusetts: Mentzer and Miles lines from before 1800
  • Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and Henry County, Illinois: Minnick and Jones line
  • Yates County New York and Crawford County Ohio: Carpenter — Salome Carpenter (1775-1837)
  • New York and Rhode Island: Crandall -Lillibridge line
  • New York and Rhode Island: Wells, Thurston, White, Kennedy lines

    I love the bold colors in your first FAN chart. I’m still waiting for the day when we can connect some of your ancestors and my husband’s, who seemed to live in several of the same places at the same time. I wonder if they might have known each other.
