Chasing Documents

Have you ever tried to find the source of a newspaper clipping shared as an image on Ancestry? While updating my research for my 4th great grandfather, John Burke, I came across a newspaper clipping regarding his estate.

This clipping is about a probate case involving the descendants of John Burke (see Saturday Night Genealogy Fun post). Since it names my 3rd great grandfather, Henry F. Burke, I attempted to locate the original. Thus, I searched Newspapers.com for ‘Henry F. Burke’ and came up with a similar article for a BLAND estate.

Since a search of Newspapers.com, Genealogy Bank and Newspaper Archives did not locate the Burke estate notice, my search will continue. It will start with a message to the person who posted the clipping in hopes that they have documentation for it. I will also start searching for the BLAND estate.

Thus, the chase continues!

  1. I first instinct when I find these types of legal notices is to search for court records at FamilySearch. Good luck in your search.
