George Young, Jr., who has been working in Galveston, Tex., came Monday to spend the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Young. He is going to Norman, Oklahoma Saturday to enter Oklahoma University where he expects to finish a course in petroleum production, in which he is majoring.

Centralians in Service
Lt. George Young at Camp Wallace, Texas, is listed as a graduate of Oklahoma University this week. He will not attend the commencement exercises but his degree will be sent to him in absentia. He completed the work last fall and was doing work on his Master’s degree when he was called into active service in November. His brother, Lt. John H. Young, is still in the Hawaiian Islands at Perl Harbor. He writes he is well and very busy. His address is B-64, APO 958, care Postmaster, San Francisco, Calf. These boys are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Young.

Lt. John H. Young expects to report next month at Santa Ana, Calif., for training in combat flying. He has recently returned from the Hawaiian Islands where he had been stationed at the Hawaiian Air Depot, in the Planning Department. He is looking find and wearing a beautiful coat of tan.

Lieut. Geo. Young Dies
Is Second Centralia Boy to Lose Life in Service; One Missing, One Captured
War continues to takes its heaviest toll in Nemaha county in the town of Centralia. Two of its boys in the service have lost their lives with the death last night of Lieutenant George Young. Another of Centralia’s fine young men in missing in action, another reported missing earlier is now listed as a prisoner of war.
Lieutenant Young was at Camp Davis, North Carolina. About a week ago he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been instructing a class when the attack came. His brother, Lt. John Young, who was home at Centralia on leave, flew to North Carolina to be with him. Lieut. George Young had earlier been stationed and his wife flew from there. She was with him when the end came. Lieut. John Young arrived in Centralia early this morning because his leave form the service was ending.
George’s passing was learned by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George O. Young, Sr., in Centralia, in the night. The Centralia correspondent, Mrs. Maude Armstrong, phoned this morning. It was too early for the family to have any plans.
Lieut. was only 24 years of age. His illness has been of concern not only to his family but to every one int his community.
Centralia has been hit repeatedly. Carol Domer, air service, was killed in action. George Guilford, serving with the merchant marine, is missing in action. Orville Edman wa listed as missing for a year, now is reported as a prisoner of the Japanese government on the Philippine Islands.
