Are you a RootsMagic user with a tree on Ancestry? If so, you’ll be pleased to hear that RootsMagic’s TreeShare feature is working again.
Not long ago, I posted about the issues I was experiencing with TreeShare. Several readers mentioned they had stopped using it altogether. Instead, they either rely on Ancestry to store their work or upload a new tree to Ancestry after making significant changes. Neither of those options worked well for me, so I decided to give TreeShare another try. Thankfully, I discovered that it’s now functioning smoothly.
For example, transferring a 1910 residence fact from RootsMagic to Ancestry took only about 8 seconds!

So, I’m back to my usual routine:
- Using RootsMagic as my primary tree file
- Adding sources from various platforms, including Ancestry, newspapers, and FamilySearch
- Updating my Ancestry tree with new people and events via TreeShare
- Leveraging RootsMagic’s FamilySearch connection to download descendants of specific families, followed by detailed research to document their histories

Glad it’s working for you again 😊
