One of the suggestions I received during the brick wall consultation with Michael J Hall was to ‘disprove’ individuals as the father of James Crawford (1772-1854). By eliminating individuals, I can narrow the potential list and hopefully identify the correct man.

- Similar in age to my James Crawford (1772-1854)
- Will of James Crawford (1770-1833) does not support a connection between two James Crawfords

- Marriage record dated 1779 – after birth of James Crawford
- James and Rebecca have a son named James who married Lucy Vawter
- William Crawford (1748-1809) [LVGS-SXM] husband of Elizabeth
- William and Elizabeth have a son named James (1782-1839) who married Anna Byrd
- James Crawford (1758-1836) [L4B5-J8X] of Fleming County, KY husband of Sarah Vanzandt
- James and Sarah have a son named James (1796-1877) who married Francis Mills
- Alexander Crawford (1715-1764) [LRVH-5GV] husband of Mary McPheeters
- Alexander and Mary (McPheeters) Crawford were killed by Indians in 1764 prior to the birth of James Crawford
- David Crawford [G9K7-7ZQ]of Barren County, Kentucky
- Will of David Crawford names sons Jesse [G9K7-QP2] and James Fisher Crawford [G9K7-W15]
- Will was witnessed by George Douglass — suggesting tie to Crawford families in Garrard County, KY area
- Polly Crawford sells 110 acres of land on Beaver Creek to James F Crawford in 1842
- James F Crawford on census records of Barren County in 1860 and 1870
- Using Land to Identify Heirs – partition of land that appears to be land purchased by David Crawford heirs and land Polly Crawford transferred to James F Crawford
