U.S. Navy at 17 – USS Oneida

The Veteran’s History Project published an oral interview with John H. Garner. John Garner’s experience in the Navy was similar to Eugene Crawford’s experience. Both young men enlisted at a very young age. John Garner served at Subbock Bay in the Phillipines and served aboard the USS Oneida. His job aboard the USS Oneida was scraping paint.
