As I posted earlier, ThruLines suggested that Matilda Caroline Stoner was a granddaughter of James and Sally (Smith Duggins) Crawford.
Based on the family tree suggested by ThruLines, I was able to research the family of Matilda Caroline Stoner and William Harrison Fields. Thru that research I was able to follow descendants to my suggested DNA matches.
Fortunately, I was able to find a death certificate for Matilda Caroline that indicates her mother’s maiden name was Crawford. Unfortunately, it did not give a first name.
As I kept following those shaky leaf hints for Matilda, I discovered a picture of Matilda, three of her daughters and her SISTER. I’ve been in contact with the owner of the photo to see if the photo contains the name of the sister. If so, this photo may be the clue to tie Matilda to the family of John and Polly Stoner.
Now, I’m looking for other photos, family letters or even gossipy newspapers to tie Matilda to her siblings.
