John Reed

John C. Reed1 was born in 1787 in New York City.25

He lived in Indiana, United States in 1812.4

On 28 Aug 1822 in Jennings County, Indiana, he purchased land being a lot in the town of Vernon on Ripley street for $1 from Henry and Priscilla Cunard.6

On 4 Jan 1839,  he purchased the undivided one fifth part of the south east quarter of section 12 township 5 north or range 7 east and the undivided one fifth of the northeast quarter of section 12 in township 5 north of range 7 east in Jennings County, Indiana for $116 from Elias Deputy and Mary Deputy, his wife.

John lived in Jennings County, Indiana on 1 Jun 1840.9

On 19 Dec 1840, he purchased land in Jennings County, Indiana in the southeast quarter of section twelve and in the northeast quarter of section twelve in township 5 north and range 7 east for $110 from Jesse and Elizabeth Hopkins .10

In 1844, he  resided just south of the present S.R. 28 and on the county line in Sugar Creek Township, Clinton, Indiana, United States.4

On 17 Feb 1844, John sold land being sixty four acres in section twelve for $90 to Edward Earl in Jennings County, Indiana.11

He purchased land being 64 acres for $90 from Edward Earl on 17 Feb 1844 in Jennings County, Indiana.12

He purchased land in section 12 township 5 north of range 7 east from James Rogers for $90 on 17 Feb 1844 in Jennings County, Indiana.13

On 17 Feb 1844 in Jennings County, Indiana, John sold land being a parcel of land containing 64 acres to James Rogers for $90.14

 On 26 Aug 1850 in Jennings County, Indiana, he sold land being 192 acres in section 12 in township 5 north of range 7 east to William Wood for $1500.15

He lived in Sugar Creek Township, Clinton, Indiana, United States on 11 Oct 1850.16

John lived in Sugar Creek Township, Clinton, Indiana, United States on 29 Jul 1860.17

In Aug 1863, he sold land   in Clinton, Indiana, United States.

He served in the military in Company K, 7th Regiment, Indiana Cavalry from 11 Sep 1863 to 23 Jul 1864.35,18

John  received medical treatment  on 26 Jul 1864 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, United States.

He died on 18 Aug 1864 at the age of 77 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, United States.2,45,18

He died on 15 Aug 1865 at the age of 78 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, United States.3

 In May 1875, final papers were filed for the estate of John Reed by T. H. Palmer in Clinton County Indiana, United States.19

John C. Reed and Mary Buckles were married on 9 Dec 1822 in Jennings County, Indiana.4,2024

Mary Buckles, daughter of James Buckles and Ann Osbourn, was born on 6 Dec 1792 in Shepardstown, Berkely County, Virginia (now West Virginia).3,25

On 17 Feb 1844 in Jennings County, Indiana, she was identified as a wife in the sale of land by John Reed to Edward Earl.11

On 17 Feb 1844, she was identified as a wife in the sale of land sold by John Reed to James Rogers in Jennings County, Indiana.14

On 26 Aug 1850, Mary was identified as a wife in the sale of land by John Reed to William Wood for $1500 in Jennings County, Indiana.15

She lived in Sugar Creek Township, Clinton, Indiana, United States on 11 Oct 1850.26

She lived in Sugar Creek Township, Clinton, Indiana, United States on 29 Jul 1860.17

Mary died on 14 Feb 1867 at the age of 74 in Berlin, Clinton County, Indiana.3,25

She was buried in Feb 1867 at Baker Cemetery in Scircleville, Clinton, Indiana, United States.25

She had her estate probated in Oct 1875 in Clinton, Indiana, United States.27
