Saturday Night Genealogy Fun — What Do You Wish You Had Done?
Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It’s Saturday Night again –
time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along – cue the Mission Impossible music!):
1) What do you wish you had done in your life?
What do I wish I had done? Wow, that’s a difficult question.
While my career path was more happenstance than planned, I don’t regret any of my choices. I enjoyed my teaching career – particularly the 40 years spent in Nemaha Valley / Central High School. While I was not raised in a small town, I’ve come to love the small rural community I’ve lived in for almost 50 years.
Do I wish to have traveled more? Not really. Over the years, our trips have taken us to most of the locations I’d like to visit. A trip to Garrard county, Kentucky is on my ‘bucket list’, but I’ve really become content staying home.
I do wish I had spent more time with my grandmothers. Their lives spanned a lot of the previous century. Because they both had listened to the older family members around them, they knew a lot about our ancestors prior to 1900. I’m sure both of them could give me hints that would open doors with my research.
