This will identifies his second wife and children by both of his wives.

In the name of God Amen
I Nathaniel Hammond of Bolton in Tolland County and State of Connecti-
cutt being of sound and desposing mind and memory do mankind ordain
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
I will that my just debts and funeral charges be well and duly paid
by my two sons hereafter named
2nd I give and devise to my loving wife Eleanor Hammond the [use] and improve
ment of one half of my now dwelling house and the sellar under it, and
one third part of the barn and one half of hte garden north of the house
with the priviledge of passing to and from the same and of laying fire
wood in the most convenient place and the priviledge of using the wells
of water appertaining to the above said premises and that she have sufficient
fire wood provided and cut [fit] for the fire at the door adn also the up and
improvement of one certain parcel or piece of land lying on Boltons aforesaid
and is bounded as followeth (viz) Beginning one rod south of the Pine Tree
in the line of the highway thence running East to the northwest corner
of [Saml Atwood] land thence South in the line of said Atwood land to the
South East corner of the said [Pine] of land, thence west partly in the
line of said Atwood land and partly in the north line of land belonging
to Elijah White Esq to the highway thence North in the line of the high
way to the first mentioned bound and the said Eleanor shall have six
barrels of good cider put into her sellar every year for her to use and
dispose of as she may think best and also the priviledge of taking
what apples she may want for her own use from the orchard without
[let] or hindrance from any person whatever It is my will that the said
Eleanor use occupy improve & dispose of all the above privliedges so
long as she shall remain and live my widow And also I will & de[v]ise
to the said Eleanor Hammond two good cows one good riding horse
saddle & bridle and all the household furniture we shall be posses of
at my decease and also my Great Bible Thos [Mantons] and Jay’s Hamoons
to be paid and giving up to her at my decease. And three hundred and
fifty dollars to be paid to her in money or good obligations in one year
after my decease all to be at her disposal for herself & her heirs forever
3rd I give and devise to my son Jason Hammond all my lands lying in East
Hartford which I had of my Father Elijah Hammond they being the land he
bout of Capt Ozias [Bissull] and Dear. “ _ Stubbins to him his heirs and assings forever 4th I give a devise to my son Elijah Hammond one parcel or piece of land lying in Vernon in Tolland County and is bounded as followeth (viz) West on a highway north on Elijah Skinners land East South on
John Tucker Land it being the land I bought of _ Conant of Mansfield con
taining by estimation ten acres be the same more or less to him his
heirs and assigns forever

Item 5th
I give and devise to my son Eli Hammond all the land lying in Vernon
in the County of Tolland which I bought of A[sakel] Webster and all the land
lying in said Vernon which my Father Elijah Hammond bought of David
West to him his heir sand assigns forever
And it is my will also that my son Eli Hammond pay two hundred
dollars to my daughter Mary Talcott to be paid in money Neat Stock or
land appraised by indifferent men, in one year and six months after my
demise to be her own and her heirs or assigns forever.
Item 6th
I give and devise to my son Allen Hammond Ten dollars to be paid to him
his heirs or assigns in two years after my demise
Item 7th
I give and devise to my sons Alvan Hammond, Calvon Hammond,
George Hammond and Chester Hammond three dollars each to be paid to
them their heirs or assigns in two years after my [demise]
Item 8th
I give and devise to my three daughters Candace Root, Dorothy White
& Eleanor Wilcox one hundred and fifty dollars each to be paid to them
in two years after my demise in money, neat stock or land apprise by
indifferent men, to them and their heirs forever.
Item 9th
I give and devise to my grand daughter Emilla Hammond one good cow
to be paid to her in one year after my demise
Item 10th
I give and devise to my two sons M[an]ton Hammond and Nathaniel
Hammond all the remainder of my estate good, and Chattels
both real and personal that is not otherwise siphoned of in this my lat
will & testament and it is also my will that the land and tenements
that are to be occupied and improved by my now wife Eleanor shall
after her decease or marriage revert to and be the sole property
of my two sons [Man]ton & Nathaniel and their heirs and assigns forever
And it is also my will that my two sons Manton & Nathaniel Hammond
pay all my just debts and funeral charges and all the legacies that I have
ordered to be paid except the two hundred dollars that I have ordered
my son Eli Hammond to pay to my daughter Mary Talcott
And do I hereby constitute and appoint my sons Elijah Hammond
Eli Hammond & [Manton} Hammond to be the executors of this my last
will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
& seal at bottom his first day of February in the year of our Lord 1809
