In trying to update my FISK research, I came across a reference to Louisa Fisk Hammond’s obituary in my files.
Hammond — Mrs. Louisa died August 17, 1874 in Ontario, aged 68 years, wife of Horatio Hammond. Rev. Abernathy of Altona officiated. Some of the children in Iowa were detained by sickness so all did not meet at funeral. The 4th next April would have been 50th wedding anniversary. Their children were already making arrangements for gala affairs. She did praying to her heavenly father. She was buried by her mother in Ontario cemetary. Mr. and Mrs. Hammond came early pioneers from Hartford, Co.. to Ohio. Tuesday, six years ago they arrived here where since resided. They have been members of the Congregational church for 41 years.

This obituary contains a key statement that is helping to verify that the Mary Fisk shown in the 1860 census in Knox County, Illinois is likely Louisa’s mother.
She was buried by her mother in Ontario cemetary.
There is a memorial for Mary Arnold Fisk buried in Ontario cemetery.
Unfortunately, the Find a Grave memorials for Louisa and Mary do not have GPS coordinates.
I had no idea there was an Ontario cemetery in Ohio…I thought at first the obituary was referring to Ontario, Canada 🙂
