Have you researched a family that others don’t recognize as a relative? As I’m researching the descendants of Alexander Crawford and Margaret McElwee, I’m encountering that situation.
Their grandson, Jonas A. Crawford married at least twice. His first wife was reported to have been Mary Fish. He married his second wife Amanda Wilson in 1878 in Taney County, Missouri. Since Jonas Crawford served for the Union during the civil war, I looked for a pension record for him.
The pension record that was found is for Adeline Crawford, widow of Jones A. Crawford. While an actual marriage license has not been found, there is enough information in this record to tie Adeline Crawford to Jones A. Crawford. If Adeline (Greever) Crawford was the third wife of Jones A. Crawford, then Adeline’s daughter, Susie Crawford Sensing, is a descendant of Jones A. Crawford and his grandfather, Alexander Crawford.
