Father-Son

Have you tried to use FamilySearch’s Experimantal Labs deed search to find records for your FAN club? I recently decided to try to see if I could locate any records involving a DOOLEY (FAN Club surname) and a Crawford. Thus, I searched for both surnames in the name field.

That search resulted in over 1,400 documents. I could have used the filter by place function to narrow the list down to the states of interest (Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio and possibly Tennessee).

Instead, I opted to filter by date and look at the 20 results in the 1700s first. I was hoping to locate a document connecting the two families. However, in the documents from the 1700s, I did not find any document connecting them. Instead, I found Dooley mentioned on one page and Crawford mentioned on another page. While I have had the results I wanted (yet), I did find an interesting deed that connects to my Kentucky Crawford research.

This was a 1793 deed between John Crawford and Thomas Todd in Lincoln County, Kentucky. The deed is for the apprenticeship of John’s son, Robert to Thomas Todd. Not only does this deed identify the relationship but it also give the age of Robert.
