John Crawford Deed

In my search fro Dooley – Crawford ties in the FamilySearch records, I came across a Lincoln county Kentucky deed for a John Crawford. In this 1793 deed, John Crawford apprentices his 16 year old son, Robert to Thomas Todd. While I don’t know more about this Crawford family or how they connect to my James Crawford research, I do have some infomration about John in my files.

In the tax records for Lincoln County, a Jn Crawford is shown with 607 acres on ‘H Fork'”‘ in 1796.

In 1800, those same tax records show Robert Crawford with 200 acres on Hanging Fork.

Since the Robert owning 200 acres of land on Hanging Fork in 1800 may be the same as the Robert in the apprenticeship, I decided to do more research on John Crawford in Lincoln county, Kentucky. Thanks to the hint in the tax records that a John Crawford was the original owner of the land, I searched the Kentucky Secretary of State site to see what I could find regarding this land. A search of that site uncovered the warrant and survey.

The survey gives a land description.
