Robert Crawford Deed

In 1793, a John Crawford apprenticed his 16 year old son to Thomas Todd. In 1798, a John Crawford sold land to a Robert Crawford for 5 shillings. It will take additional research to verify that these are the same people in both deeds.

This Indenture made this twenty third day of
February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
Crawford hundred and ninety eight Between John Crawford
of the County of Lincoln and State of Kentucky of the
one part and Robert Crawford and Ann Crawford Crawford
of the County and State aforesaid of the other part

Witnesseth that the said John Crawford for and in
consideration of the natural affection which I bear
to them the said Robert and Ann Crawford and the
further consideration of the sum of five shilling to
me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknow
ledge hath given granted bargained sold aliened
and confirmed and by these presents do give grant
bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said
Robert and Ann Crawford and their Heirs and assigns
forever one certain tract or parcel of Land lying
and being in Lincoln County on the Haning Fork
of Dicks River and bounded as followeth ( Viz )
Beginning on the West bank of the Haning
Fork of Dicks River where the County Road croses said
Fork thence along said Road until it strikes James
Logan ‘ s line thence with said Logans line until strike
William Goocher Corner on an Ash thence with said
Goocher line until it strike the Fork at a Maple &
Coffee Tree another of said Goochs Corner thence down
the said Fork with the meanders thereof to the Be
ginning To have and to hold the aforesaid tract
or parcel of Land with all and singular the Apper –

tenances unto the said Robert and Ann Crawford
their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns
to the only proper use and behoof of them the said
Robert Crawford and Ann Crawford and their heirs
and Assigns forever and the said John Crawford all
and singular the aforesaid Premisses with all & every
the Appurtenances unto them the said Robert & Ann
against me the said John Crawford my Heirs Executors Administrators
and assigns
Crawford and their Heirs and Assigns and and against
all and every other person or persons shall
and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents
In Witness whereof the said John Crawford hath
hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year
above written

This Indenture was received into my office
proved to be the Act and Deed of the said John
Crawford by the oaths of William Wragen Wragen William
