Crawford to Logan Deed

In 1797 John Crawford sold some of his Lincoln County, Kentucky land to James Logan for fifty pounds. The land was part of the land received by John Crawford via Virginia Treasury Warrant 2690 in 1786.

day of December one thousand seven hundred &
Ninety seven Between John Crawford of the
County of Lincoln and State of Kentucky by Robert
Crawford his Attorney in fact of the one part and
James Logan of the County of and State aforesaid
of the other part . Witnesseth that the said John Craw
ford for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty
pounds Lawful Money of Kentucky to him in hand
paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge
hath given granted bargained sold aliened and con
firmed and by these presents do give grant , bargain ,
sell alien and confirm bargain , unto the said James Logan
and his heirs forever one certain tract or parcel of Land
lying and being in Lincoln County on the hanging fork
of Dicks River and bounded as follows this Beginning
at a Honey Locust and two Elms thence South twenty three
and a half Degrees West one hundred & ninety nine poles
to a Buckeys Hornbean & Mulberry on the bank of a
Small Branch thence North Sixty six and a half degrees
West forty poles to a white ash in said Crawford Premption
Line thence with said line North twenty five Degrees East
two hundred and four poles to a Hackberry thence South Sixty
five Degrees East forty poles to the Beginning
It being part of a Tract of 913 Acres granted to John
Crawford by the Commonwealth of Virginia by Patent
bearing date the eighth day of February one

Thousand seven hundred and eighty nine . To have
and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land
with all and singular the Appurtenances unto him
the said James Logan Logan and his heirs , Executors . Adminis
strators and Assigns , to the only proper use & behoof of the
said James Logan Logan and his heirs and assigns forever
And the said John Crawford all and singular the aforesaid
Premisses with all and every the Appurtenances unto
the said James Logan and his heirs and assigns against
me the said John Crawford my heirs Executors and
Administrators and all and every other person whatso
ever shall and will Warrant and forever defend by
these presents . In Witness whereof the said John
Crawford by his aforesaid Attorney hath hereunto set
his hand and seal the day and year above written .
