Do you research everyone with a fmaily surname in a county where your ancestor lived? That’s one of my current projects using FamilySearch’s new Experimental Search. I’m currently working with Crawford records in Lincoln County, Kentucky.
While I’m still working my way thru the records from the 1700’s, I believe they involve two Crawford families: Rebekah Crawford and John Crawford. Rebekah’s family is familiar to me. Two of her daughters married into the SELLERS family. Her son, James, married Martha Knight.
John Crawford is another story. While I’m finding several deeds for him in Lincoln County, Kentucky, I’m not finding him in online trees. Today’s deed references a patent for 913 acres of land he received from the state of Virginia.
