Thanks to FamilySearch’s experimental labs and a ‘Crawford Families‘ document from an unknown source, I’m tracking down deeds in Botetourt County, Virginia. Today’s deed is for the 1799 sale of land that Andrew Crawford inherited from John Crawford to Thomas Allen.

April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and
ninety Nine Between Andrew Crawford Crawford of Botetourt County
and State of Vagina of the one part and Thomas Allen of thepage 663
County and State aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth That the
said Andrew Crawford for and in Consideration of the sum of one hund
dred and Sixty five pounds Current money of Virginia to him paid
in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Bargained
granted sold and aliened , and by these presents doth grant bargain
and sell unto the said Thomas Allen The one third part of Certain
Tracts or parcels of Land Lying and being in Botetourt County aforesaid
Owned by Said Andrew , by virtue of the Last Will and Testament of John
Crawford Decd to wit the one Third of ninety three Acres of an old
grant formerly Occupied by said John Crawford Decd Lying and
being on Craigs Creek adjoining the Lands of William Crawford and
being on the North Side of said Creek and also the one third part of
two entries made by said John Crawford Decd Containing [sixty]
three acres be the same more or Less one entry containing thirty
acres adjoining the aforesaid granted Lands and the Land of Josiah
Crawford the Other entry containing thirty three acres adjoins the
Lands of William Crawford aforesaid To have and to hold
the said granted lands and together with their & every of their appur
tenances unto the said Thomas Allen his heirs or assigns forever and the
said Andrew Crawford Crawford for himself his heirs Executors or administrators
the title of said Land in fee Simple and all and singular the premises
together with their & every of their appurtenances from himself and
every other person whomsoever unto the said Thomas Allen his heirs
Executor administrators or assigns Shall and will Warrant and forever
Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Andrew
Crawford hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the daypage 664
