John Minnick Obituary

Do you limit your searches for an obituary to the area where the person died? If so, consider that an obituary could be found in their former home town. Typically, I search in the area where someone lived. However, while looking for another obituary, I found one for John Minnick of Kewanee, Illinois in a Pennsylvania newspaper.

MINNICK.
Word was received here yesterday of the death of John Minnick, a former resident of Mercersburg, at his home in Kewanee, Ill., last week, aged 81 years. He was proprietor of a shoe store at the time of his death. Twenty-five years ago he left Mercersburg for the west. D. A. Sharar, the grocer, and Mrs. Mary Peregoy, West North Street, are nephew and niece, respectively, of the deceased, and Joseph Sharar, Hagerstown, is a nephew.

This obituary identifies a niece, Mrs. Mary Pergoy, and two newphews: D. A. and Joseph Sharar. Unfortunately, I don’t know how these individuals are related to John Minnick.
