Today’s discovery is the marriage license for George Mentzer and Emaline Minnick.
To verify the record, I turned to FamilySearch, which offers extensive access to many such documents. I located George Mentzer in the index for Henry County, Illinois marriage records [film 7731360, image 620]. The actual licenses from Henry County’s Book A are available on film #4031862.

Back in 1983, I used the information from these records to request further details from the county, and I received a copy of the “Return of Marriage” from the county clerk. Interestingly, despite the availability of many records online today, I have yet to find this particular document in any digital format.
