Expect a New Registration Call
A Washington dispatch in Tuesday daily papers stated that President Roosevelt will soon announce a new selective service registration day, for the 1941 crop of young men, those who have reached draft age since the last registration.
Age minimum may be dropped to 18. The army wants to do more of its training with younger men.
It is also expected that following this second registration day, there will be no more fixed times for general registration. Requirement will simply be made that as each young man reaches his draft age birthday, he will be required to register with his local draft board within five days.
There may be a new draft scheme to bring a greater percentage of young draftees into the army from the group registered.
Are Reserves for 10 Years
The Washington dispatch states the draftees leave the army as reserves for 10 years. Of those now being trained, from ages of 21 to 35, the older ones, from 26 to 35, will be 36 to 45 years old 10 years from now, not considered as good fighting men as those younger. It is stated the army high command is insisting more and more on induction of men under 25, preferably 19 to 22.1
