Will Proceed to Classify Men
Now Through the Entire Draft List
The Nemaha county draft board, acting on instructions received from state headquarters Tuesday, will shortly resume sending of questionnaires to men in the draft list and this time will not stop until questionnaires have been sent to every man registered and all have been classified.
The board has so far classified 340 men. This was done under direction to classify 20 percent of the registrants before the first of the year. The instructions received Tuesday were the first since that time asking that more men be classified. The letter stated in part:
“It is desirable that the classification of all registrants be completed at the earliest practicable date. Therefore all local boards will proceed to the prompt classification of registrants, at a rate which will not interfere with deliveries for induction.”
The letter states that this is not to rescind the present ruling in regard to time of medical examination. Because health is subject to change, boards are asked to have men take their medical exam not more than 60 days ahead of induction.
Three Men Left Monday
Nemaha county sent its April quota of three men to the Fort Leavenworth induction station Monday. The men are: Edward Alvin Schmits of Seneca, Nelson Garner Beard, Centralia and Vernon Allen Groff, Seneca, all volunteers ahead of their draft numbers.
Today: All were accepted.
