To Classify Men Faster
Board Sending 50 Blanks A Day
The Nemaha County draft board is stepping up the classification of registrants. Formerly, 25 questionnaires were sent each day. The board decided last week to send 50 each day to get classification out of the way as soon as possible.
It is expected a new registration day will be announced soon. This will be for all men who have reached 21 since the last registration. The local board would like to complete classification of all men now registered before the new registration date.
In session this morning, the Board felt there are a few things which ought to be clarified.
The board will notify the men who are given deferred classification. They will not notify the men who are rated Class A-1. Those who do not get notice of deferred classification within 30 days after they have returned their questionnaires can take it for granted they are in Class A-1, subject to the physical examination. However, there will be men in Class A-1 who want to know at once, for business reasons, whether they are likely to be accepted or not. Such men, if property owners, can go to the induction center at their own expense and have a physical examination.
No man, having filled out his questionnaire, should pay a notary fee for witnessing it. The local advisers and the postmaster in each town are qualified to acknowledge the signature.
Two new advisers must be named in Sabetha to take the place of J. L. Haley and Michael Seltzer. One will be Postmaster George Althouse.
