Register Tuesday!

All young men who have reached 21 since last registration day are to register this Tuesday, July 1, for selective service. It is a duty imposed by the government. Registration office for Nemaha county will be at the regular office of the county service board, across the street from the city hall in Seneca. The office will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Registration cards compare closely to those used the first time. Among points registrants will be asked are telephone number, date and place of birth, name and address of person who will always know the registrant’s address.

Four More to Ft. Leavenworth

Here are four young men who left Seneca Thursday afternoon for the army induction center at Ft. Leavenworth.

Left to right are Belford Duryea of Seneca, John M. Christine of Sabetha, Harold G. Myers, who registered at Elko, Nev., has been visiting at America City and was transferred to this county for induction, and John Charles Baldwin, Seneca. The local board to this morning had no official report as to their acceptance.

This group makes a total of 26 young men accepted from Nemaha county. First man was Arthur Hartrter of Sabetha, who went in January. In February, those accepted were Vernet Randel, Corning; Herman Engel, Wetmore; Lloyd Frederickson, Corning; Edward J. Vogel, Bern; Cyril F. Olberding, Baileyville; Wm. J. Flaherty, Havensville; Elmer Walter Allen, Corning; Wm. R. Rucker, Wetmore; Francis Block, Seneca; Leonard Talley, Centralia; Clarence Hazlett, Onaga; Homer Turner, Oneida; Robert G. Adriance, Seneca.

Robert Goodrich Wilson, salesman, who registered in Nemaha county and was inducted in the east, was also credited against the February quota.

James Severin, Baileyville, and Donald Davis, Sabetha, joined the army in March. Davis is so far the only colored youth from the county.

Richard Moore, Seneca, left April 7. On April 28, Edward Alvin Schmits of Seneca, Nelson G. Beard of Centralia and Vernon Allen Groff, Seneca, reported.

Floyd Downing, who registered in Nemaha county and transferred to Nebraska, is also credited to this county.

Complete Sending of Questionnaire Blanks

The Nemaha county selective board completed last week the sending of questionnaires to all men who registered last October. Nemaha county had a total of 1703 registrants.

Classification of the men was being slowed this week by shortage of classification cards.
