MARRIAGE LICENSE RECORD

Woodson County, ss.In the Probate Court in and for said County and State.
MARRIAGE AFFIDAVIT
Ernest E. Mentzer hereby applies for a Marriage License addressed to any minister or magistrate authorized by law to unite in matrimony Ernest E. Mentzer and Edith M. Dumond and being duly sworn, deposes:
That said Ernest E. Mentzer is aged 30 years of age, and that said Edith M. Dumond is aged over 18 years; that they have their parents’ consent to said union, and that neither has been divorced within six months last past.
That said contracting parties are not related to each other in any of the degrees prohibited by law, namely: Parent and child, grandparent and grandchild in any degree, brother and sister of the whole or the half blood, uncle or niece, aunt or nephew, nor first cousins.
That neither of said parties is or has ever been epileptic, imbecile, feeble minded or insane; or, if either is or has been so afflicted, then that the woman is more than forty-five years of age.
And that neither party was born subsequent to the insanity of either of his or her parents, or if so, that the woman about to be married is more than forty-five years of age.

BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 31st day of May A.D. 1910, there was issued from the office of said Probate Judge, a Marriage License, of which the following is a true copy:

Woodson County, State of Kansas, May 31st, A.D. 1910.To Any Person Authorized by Law to Perform the Marriage Ceremony, Greeting:
You are hereby authorized to join in marriage Ernest E. Mentzer of Yates Center, Kans., aged 30 years, and Edith M. Dumond of Yates Center, Kans., aged over 18 years, coventeing thereto and of this License you will make due return to my office within thirty days.

COUNTY OF WOODSON, ss.I, A minister of the Gospel, do hereby certify, that in accordance with the authorization of the within License, I did, on the First day of June A.D. 1910 at Bride’s Home in said County, consenting thereto, join and unite in Marriage the within named Ernest Mentzer and Edith M. Dumond,

MENTZER—DUMONDAt the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Mary Dumond, of Rose, Wednesday evening, June 1, 1910, Rev. E. W. Spencer of the Methodist church officiating, Mr. Ernest Mentzer of West Center township and Miss Edith May Dumond. A wedding supper of unusual elegance was served to about fifty relatives and friends of both parties. They were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents.
The groom has just completed a handsome new home on his farm in West Center where they are at home to their friends. The bride is one of Woodson county’s best school teachers and is a young lady who is very popular wherever she is known. Mr. Mentzer has lived on the farm west of town all his life and has the respect and well wishes of all who know him. The News joins other friends in extending congratulations.
