MARRIAGE LICENSE RECORD

Woodson County

MARRIAGE AFFIDAVIT.
In the Probate Court in and for said County and State.

Clarence Albert Mentzer, hereby applies for a Marriage License addressed to any minister or magistrate authorized by law to unite in matrimony Clarence Albert Mentzer and Grace Graham, and being duly sworn, depose:

That said Clarence Albert Mentzer is 27 years of age, and that said Grace Graham is 23 years; that they have their parents’ consent to said union and that neither has been divorced within six months last past.

That said contracting parties are not related to each other in any of the degrees prohibited by law, namely: Parent and child, grandparent and grandchild in any degree, brother and sister of the whole or the half blood, uncle or niece, aunt or nephew, nor first cousins.

That neither of said parties is or has ever been epileptic, imbecile, feeble-minded, or insane; or, if either is or has been so afflicted, then that the woman is more than forty-five years of age.

And that neither party was born subsequent to the insanity of either of his or her parents, or if so, that the woman about to be married is more than forty-five years of age.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my official seal, at my office in Yates Center, in said County and State, this 6 day of May, A.D. 1913.

Office of Probate Judge of said County.

BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 6 day of May, A.D. 1913, there was issued from the office of said Probate Judge, a Marriage License, of which the following is a true copy:

MARRIAGE LICENSE No.

Woodson County, State of Kansas, May 6, A.D. 1913.

To Any Person Authorized by Law to Perform the Marriage Ceremony, Greeting:

You are hereby authorized to join in marriage Clarence Albert Mentzer Yates Center Kans, aged 27 years, and Grace Graham of Yates Center Kans, aged 23 years,

consenting thereto, and of this License you will make due return to my office within thirty days.

And which said Marriage License was afterwards, to-wit, on the ___________ day of ____________ A.D 190__ returned to said Probate Judge, with the following certificate endorsed thereon, to-wit:

STATE OF KANSAS, COUNTY OF WOODSON, SS.

I, A Clergyman, do hereby certify, that in accordance with the authorization of the within License, I did, on the 7 day of May, A.D. 1913, at Yates Center, Kansas, in said County, consenting thereto join and unite in Marriage the within named Clarence Albert Mentzer and Grace Graham.

WITNESS MY HAND and seal this day and year above written.
