NEW SERIAL NUMBER LIST
DRAWN YESTERDAY

For July 1 Service Registrants—A New National Lottery Soon
The Nemaha County selective service board yesterday shuffled the melon-colored cards on which 21-year-olds registered July 1, drew the cards, and gave them county serial numbers.
As in the case of the first registration, there will soon be a national lottery to determine order numbers, the order in which the serial numbers holders will be called to service.
The new order numbers are to be sandwiched in with the old, instead of being kept as a separate list, according to dispatches from Washington Monday.
Nemaha County already had a list of 1,705 order numbers from the registration of last October. This old list, starting No. 1, has been sifted to No. 163 in order to obtain the 25 men who have been sent to Ft. Leavenworth for induction. From order No. 162 to 1,705, there remains a reservoir of unsifted material, 1,543 old registrants.
There are 90 of the new registrants; a proportion of about 1 to 17 to those left in the “reservoir.” After the order numbers are drawn for the new men, they could be sandwiched by starting with the old order number reached, No. 163, then going down the list 17 men, sandwiching in Order No. 1 from the new group, then going down the list another 17, then sandwiching in No. 2 from the new list and so on.
Meanwhile, the county serial number list is important to the next lottery for determination of order numbers. Here is the county second registration serial list:
