Do You Conduct Descendancy Research?
Have you ever explored descendancy research? While this type of research can be time-consuming, it’s often pursued to help identify DNA matches. Personally, while I hope my descendancy research leads to DNA connections, my primary goal is usually to uncover clues that might help me trace my lineage back another generation.
One of my 2024 genealogy goals was to research the descendants of my 4th great-grandfather, Elijah Bland. Although records for Elijah remain somewhat elusive, I’ve discovered that several of his children migrated to Platte County, Missouri. Thankfully, the book Annals of Platte County provides a wealth of information and serves as an excellent starting point for tracing the descendants of Elijah’s daughter, Mahala, and her husband, Alfred Kirkpatrick.
