Grandparents
- Leon Russel Crawford (1894-1976) – was a switchman in the train yard. He was living at 510 Avenue G in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas.
- Winnie Letha Currey (1903-1992) – was listed on the 1925 Kansas census in the household of Leon Crawford. In 1925, Leon and Winnie did not have any living children. A child, Betty, died at birth in 1921.
- Edward Osmond Briles (1891-1956) – operated a threshing machine in 1925. He was listed on the 1925 Kansas census in Iola, Allen County, Kansas.
- Pauline Edith Mentzer (1896-1984) – was listed on the 1925 Kansas census in the household of Edward Hassmond Briles in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. In 1925, Pauline was the mother of Walter and Letha. Her son, Kenneth was born in September 1918 and died in June 1919.
Great Grandparents
- Judson Foster Crawford (1866-1949) – was working as a yard man for the railroad in 1925. He was listed on the 1925 Kansas census living at 504 Avenue G in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas.
- Josie WInifred Hammond Crawford (1874-1954) – was listed on the 1925 Kansas census living in the household of J. F. Crawford at 504 Avenue G in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas. In 1925, Josie’s living children included Bernice Allen, Leon Crawford, Helen Horton, Hugh Crawford, Esther Noll and Louis Maden. Her son, Marion died in 1920.
- Hiram Miles Crawford (1866-1943) – Was working as a section hand in 1925. He was listed on the 1925 Kansas census in Logan, Gray County, Kansas. His wife, Winifred May Hutchinson passed away in 1913 leaving him with the following children: Herbert Miles Currey, Myrtle Irene Currey Gaskill, Mary Lela Currey Walters, Winnie Letha Curey Crawford, Earnest Oran Currey and Alma Jean Curey Taylor.
- Edward Grant Briles (1869-1951) – was listed as a retired farmer on the 1925 Kansas census living in Iola, Allen County, Kansas
- Frances Artlissa ‘Artie’ Ricketts (1868-1947) – Was listed on the 1925 Kansas census living in the household of Edward G Briles in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. Frances was the mother of Edward Osmond Briles, Ethel Frances Briles Smith, Glen Briles and Lula Belle Briles Copes. All four children were living in 1925.
- Charles Oliver Mentzer (1869-1955) – Was listed as a farmer on the 1925 Kansas census living in Everett Township, Woodson County, Kansas
- Nettie Adell Wells (1873-1939) – was listed on the 1925 Kansas census in the household of Charles Mentzer living in Everett Township, Woodson County, Kansas. Nettie was the mother of Gladys Olive Mentzer Green, Paul Emory Mentzer, Pauline Edith Mentzer Briles, Leslie George Mentzer and Herbert Wells Mentzer. All of Nettie and Charles’ children were living in 1925.
Great Great Grandparents
- Mary Foster Crawford (1842-1929) – Was listed as the head of household on the 1925 Kansas census living at 911 Second Street in Dodge City Ford County, Kansas. Her husband, Washington Marion Crawford, had died in 1889.
- Richmond Fisk Hammond (1840-1928) – Was a resident of Sawtelle SOldier’s Home is Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California. His first wife, Sarah Ellen Ralston Hammond, passed away in 1892. Richmond married Mary McClure in 1897 and she passed away in 1901. Richmond married for a third time in 1906 in Kinsley, Kansas to Mrs Mary Grim.
- Sarah Jane Thompson Briles (1843-1930) – Was living in the household of her daughter, Angine Myers, on the 1925 Kansas census living in Neosho Township, Coffey County, Kansas. Her husband, Noah Washington Briles, died in 1879.
- Rachel Emeda Christy Ricketts (1845-1927) – Was living in the household of her son-in-law, Edward G Briles, on the 1925 census in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. Her husband, James Marshall Ricketts, died in 1920.
- Emline Minnick Mentzer (1848-1927) – Listed as a head of household on the 1925 Kansas census living in Yates Center, Woodson County, Kansas. Her husband, George Mentzer, died in 1912.

Wow! You had a lot of 2X greats still living in 1925. I only had two. Your family is certainly well established in Kansas.
Yes, I have strong Kansas roots. All of my 2nd great grandparents lived in Kansas at some point in their lives. Fifteen of them are buried in Kansas. Richmond Fisk Hammond is the only one that is not buried in Kansas. He migrated to California around 1910, dying there in 1928.
