Did you catch the RootsTech 2025 session, FamilySearch Global and Tech Forum? If so, you may have heard about the new Quality Score feature.
This tool evaluates an individual’s profile on the FamilySearch tree based on four key criteria:
- Data Completeness
- Source Tagging
- Source Consistency
- Conflict-Free Data
Curious about how it worked, I checked a few of my ancestors in the tree. My 4th great-grandfather, James Crawford, had a high quality score, while my 3rd great-grandfather, Lewis Crandall, received a medium score—mainly due to incomplete data. This wasn’t surprising, as his birth, marriage, death, and burial details remain vague.

A big thank you to FamilySearch for introducing this helpful tool! It’s a great way to identify areas for improvement in our family trees.
