Have you ever considered the GeoCodes associated with places in RootsMagic? I hadn’t paid much attention until I was adding abbreviations to some entries and decided to update the GeoCodes simultaneously.
That’s when I discovered that the entry for Seneca, Ontario County, New York, United States was missing its GeoCode.

To resolve this, my first step was to verify the correct county for Seneca by searching on Google. Although I learned that New York has a Seneca County, I also found multiple sources—including a Wikipedia article—confirming that there is a town named Seneca in Ontario County. According to Wikipedia, Seneca in Ontario County is located at 42°50′13″N 77°4′32″W. However, entering these coordinates directly required me to adjust my Windows settings.
Fortunately, I came across a post GeoCoding – Location Coordinates on the RootsMagic forum that demonstrated a simpler process using Google Maps.

This allowed me to quickly copy and paste the correct GeoCode into RootsMagic.
