Learning AI

Do you use AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools to help with your genealogy research?

Thanks to methods and ideas shared by other genealogists, I’ve been expanding my use of AI in a variety of ways.

One of my biggest inspirations is Randy Seaver. I’ve adopted Randy’s ABC Biography technique to share stories not only about my relatives but also about people and events in Nemaha County history.

I also find valuable tips and creative approaches in the Facebook group Genealogy and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Recent posts there have introduced me to several new techniques I’m excited to try.

For example, Judith Nicholls shared how she uses AI to research her ancestors, including a fascinating story about finding a 1671 letter, which she detailed in her blog post, A Rare Letter.

Another helpful post came from Michele Simmons Lewis, who described how she uses AI to get advice on breaking through brick walls. Her approach particularly caught my attention since I’m always looking for new ways to tackle my Crawford brick wall.

These are just a few examples of what I’m learning from this collaborative group. I’m grateful for the supportive environment and for the administrators who help make it such a valuable resource.

How are you using AI in your genealogy research? I’d love to hear your experiences!
