Excuse all my mistakes!
I am sorry.June 29, 1994
Dear Marcie & Mike,
We pray this letter finds you both doing well and happy.
As for us, we are having our days of not feeling so well, but we are still able to do most of our work.
The weather has been quite unusual and its effected us quite a bit in the way we feel and also our farming and cattle operation. We have several hundred head of cows and calves and the grass is not doing so well, without the moisture we so badly need.
We are planning on flying out of Amarillo, Texas July 8th to go to Baton Rouge, La. to watch our 12 year old, Shannon Bailey, play basketball in the AAU tournament; also the 16 year old, Erin goes to Colorado Spring, Co. to play…
…with her group about the 15th or 16th.
We will return from Baton Rouge and drive to Col.The Briles Family Reunion will be held July the 24th at the old homestead by LeRoy, Ks.
I got a call from Josephene Briles, John’s wife, this morning and she wanted to know if I had a small key board. I was sorry to have to say I didn’t. I had had one once and I’d given it to a granddaughter.
They are wanting to have group singing. Do you and Mike sing? Come and bring your number or numbers. We have gotten acquainted with a new member of our family.
They are the Daniel Briles’s. Dan’s great great great grandfather was Alfred Briles. They are into genealogy and plan to go back east to find more about their side of the house.Dan & Daphne lie at Bernie, Mo.
Louise Briles Edwards of Ashoborough
N.C. has helped some. She knew Alfred and his family and sent Dan some information, but Daphne (Dan’s wife) said the material Louie sent was not printed well (off a copier), so they didn’t get too much off it.
The forms you sent me were sent to several different ones and some returned them and others didn’t. I’ll either send them or I’ll bring them to the reunion, if you are there.
I don’t know if I have written you about my accident or not, but I turned our pickup over in a culvert and got a concussion, which has bothered me a lot. For a long time, I was unable to think clearly and remember. I was a mess.
Hope to see you and Mike, also your parents at the Briles Reunion — July 24th
Bring your genealogy, if you can.Love,
Mickey & Fred Barby (cover)Bring your genealogy if you can
Josephene said some of Dan’s relatives there in Kans. are coming also.
It may be Dan’s sister or brother.I ask Daphne if she knew of any of her family that had twins and she said she did. She sent me their pictures. I now have pictures of 7 or 8 sets. I am so proud of them.
She and Dan have a girl & boy, 9 yr. old (twins), and a 16-year old girl.
