Today’s find from my WELLS notebook is the marriage record for William O. Wells and Ellen O. Andrews in Calhoun County, Michigan.

This certifies that on the 3d day of July A.D. 

1866 at Eckford in the County aforesaid , I joined 

in Matrimony , William O. Wells of Homer in the State of Mich 

aged 21 years , and Ellen O. Andrews of Clarendon in the State

of Mich . aged 19 years . In presence of Merrit Andrews of Clar -endon , Sophia C. Andrews of Clarendon .

This marriage record provides another key link in the Wells family history. William and Ellen were married just after the Civil War, when Michigan communities like Eckford and Homer were growing steadily as settlers arrived from New York and Pennsylvania.
