A Christmas Reflection — 2025
from Mike and Marcia
Another Christmas season has found its way to our door,
A year much like the last—just a little older than before.
Life didn’t change directions, no sweeping turns to tell,
But steady days and familiar paths have served us very well.
Seneca still feels like home, where roots run deep and true,
And “grow where you’re planted” still guides the things we do.
Autumn brought a cherished pause, a rhythm we still keep—
An October weekend spent with family by Acorns Lake,
Where laughter echoes softly and memories feel close,
Reminding us that time together matters most.
The sunflowers still call us down Kansas backroads wide,
Golden faces turned skyward, standing side by side.
They remain a symbol—bright, resilient, strong—
Much like the stories Marcia continues to carry along.
Genealogy fills many hours, questions leading to clues,
With records unearthed, stories shaped, and history renewed.
With a little help from AI along the research way,
Family stories are written, shared, and preserved day by day.
Mike keeps tending garden beds and lending a helping hand,
Serving where he’s needed, rooted right where he stands.
Together we volunteer, we learn, we quietly give,
Grateful for the lives we’ve built and the way we get to live.
So as Christmas lights twinkle and another year draws near,
We’re thankful for steady moments and those we hold dear.
For family, for friendship, for stories yet to tell,
And for growing older—together—where we’re planted well.
May your Christmas be peaceful, your New Year kind and bright,
Filled with warmth, good memories, and small moments of light.
Merry Christmas,
Mike and Marcia
