Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It’s Saturday Night again—
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.
This Week’s Mission
- What are your genealogy goals for 2026?
Consider genealogy research, education, organizing, service, writing, or anything else you’d like to share.
Thinking that Randy Seaver’s Saturday Night Genealogy Fun prompt would likely focus on 2026 genealogy goals, I initially put off writing a separate blog post on the topic. Even so, I did spend some time reflecting on my goals—and even had a conversation with ChatGPT about them.
While I spend a lot of time researching and writing about my family history, I don’t think of it as “work.” For me, genealogy remains an enjoyable—and often challenging—retirement pastime.
As I reviewed the goals ChatGPT suggested, I realized they were thoughtful, well-structured, and perfectly suited to a job setting. But since I have no desire to turn my hobby into a job, I decided not to adopt them in that form. Instead, I’m sticking with the same broad, flexible goals I used for 2025—goals that support how I naturally research, write, and share my family history.
My 2026 Genealogy Goals
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Continue exploring and integrating AI tools into my genealogy research, using them to uncover new insights and present my findings in new ways.
Blogging:
Maintain a consistent posting schedule, sharing my discoveries, challenges, and experiences along the way.
Sharing:
Keep making my research available through platforms such as Ancestry, WikiTree, and FamilySearch so that it remains accessible and useful to others.
DNA Research:
Continue honing my skills in working with DNA results to identify relationships and uncover connections with my matches.
