Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It’s Saturday Night again –
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.
1) What are your genealogy goals for 2024? Consider genealogy research, education, organizing, service, writing, and whatever else you care to share.
I shared my 2024 goals in my 2024 Goals post on January 1.
- Purge some of my paper files
- Descendancy research
- Crawford research
While I did not include my plans to continue blogging as a goal, I do plan to continue posting to this blog. Over the past year, I’ve used the following blogging schedule:
- Sunday – Saturday Night Genealogy Fun prompt
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – blog about recent research
- Tuesday – profiles of Nemaha county (KS) Purple Heart recipients
- Friday – documents buried in my files
- Saturday – articles about Nemaha County military service
To achieve my goals, I will be using a variety of resources to add events and sources to my RootsMagic tree. That tree is synced with my Ancestry tree. I will also work on updating WikiTree profiles for my ancestors.
While there aren’t enough hours in a year to work thru all of my autosomal DNA matches, I will continue working to document my ThruLines matches. These matches are additional support for my lineage. Besides autosomal DNA tests, I manage three BigY tests in the Crawford project. I am an active participant in the Crawford project and am hoping that another test will help break down some of our brick walls.
To help me better understand those yDNA results, I am enrolled in Diahann Southard’s yDNA class. Besides this class, I try to participate in some special interest groups sponsored by the Topeka Genealogy Society. I am also registered for the virtual version of RootsTech 2024.
No matter what, I will be spending a lot of my time in my genealogy office.

Marcia, You will have a very busy 2024 for sure. I’m also attending RootsTech 2024, but only virtually.
I’m sorry I mislead. I am also doing the virtual version of the conference.
