Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It’s Saturday Night again –
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.
1) Marian B. Wood wrote a blog post, Halfway Through 2024: Genealogy Progress and Plans, to assess her progress to date in 2024. This is an excellent idea for an SNGF challenge.
2) How are you doing with your genealogy goals for 2024? If you did not make goals for 2024, what goals do you hope to achieve in the rest of the year?
I think this is something that I need to do on a MONTHLY basis. That way, I might stay on track. It also might help if I wrote ‘Smart Goals’. While my list of 2024 goals is short, they can be time consuming. So, how am I doing?
Purging Documents
This is a slow process, but each Friday I’m posting items from my paper files.
Descendancy Research
This is also a slow and tedious process.
Since I sponsored a yDNA test for a supposed descendant of Alexander Crawford, I started researching his descendants. Most of that research was posted on this blog. I was hoping that the yDNA would show a relationship between Alexander Crawford and the James Crawford lines in Garrard county, Kentucky. Unfortunately, the person tested is not in the same group as the James Crawford families.
I’m currently working on descendants of Hampton Lillibridge Crandall. Thus, I still need to work on John Burke, Eli Bland and Edward Crawford Descendants.
Crawford Research
Pulaski and Rockcastle counties, Kentucky — While I haven’t thouroughly searched these counties, I have completed searches of the records for Alexander Crawford descendants.
Lincoln County, Kentucky –
- My research of Alexander Crawford led to a connection to the FISH family in Lincoln County.
- Deed research for John Crawford uncovered a connection to the Ellis and Bashford families.
Montgomery and Botetourt Counties, Virginia
- Thanks to the FamilySearch labs, I’m locating CRAWFORD deeds in these counties.
Besides my written goals, I have been successful at an unwritten goal: daily posts to this blog.
While I don’t have an ‘education’ goal, I can claim ‘success’ at such a goal.
- Participated in virtual RootsTech
- Took a yDNA class
- Participate in Mondays with Myrt as time allows
- Learning to use AI tools

You’re making progress and you’re going to crack the Crawford brick wall at some point!
