Have you been following Randy Seaver’s exploration of AI tools in genealogy? If so, have you tried using AI to create a song or generate a research overview about one of your ancestors?
After asking ChatGPT to turn a RootsMagic narrative report into a biography of my Revolutionary War ancestor, Oliver Miles, I decided to go a step further and complete Randy’s ABC process by creating both a song and an audio overview.
Using Suno, I created a song and was able to download it as a video file. Then, with Google NotebookLM, I generated a WAV audio overview. I asked ChatGPT to combine that audio with a featured image to create a video. Both videos were uploaded to YouTube, giving me an easy way to share Oliver’s story with others.
Telling Oliver Miles’ story through both narrative and song has brought his life and legacy into sharper focus—not just for me, but for anyone who listens. Using AI tools like ChatGPT, Suno, and Google NotebookLM has made it easier than ever to blend research and creativity in ways that resonate with family and community.
If you’re documenting your ancestors’ lives, I encourage you to explore these tools for yourself. Whether you’re crafting a biography, generating a song, or producing a short video, AI can help you share your research in more meaningful and memorable ways.
Have you tried any of these approaches? I’d love to hear how you’re using technology to tell your family’s stories. Leave a comment below or share a link to your own creations!
