Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It’s Saturday Night Again –
Time For Some More Genealogy Fun!!
Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.
1) Are you experimenting with Artifical Intelligence (AI) for genealogy and family history? What have you learned so far? What have you done to date? What GPTs have you used? What results have you had – good or bad?
I am a regular user of one AI tool: Sidebar. I use this tool to transcribe newspaper articles. Even though I have to proofread the transcription, it is still faster and easier to use the AI tool than to transcribe the articles myself.
While I’m not actively using other AI tools at the present, the use of those tools is embedded in some aspects of FamilySearch and Ancestry. The new ‘labs’ experimental search is likely using AI technology to transcribe those deeds and wills. According to a RootsTech 2024 presentation by Crista Cowa, Ancestry is using AI technology to pull newspaper articles above and beyond the obituaries.
I previously posted about some of my experiences using AI.
